The MFA in Media Arts Program at the Brooklyn Campus of Long Island University is conveniently located at the Brooklyn Campus of Long Island University, 10 minutes from Manhattan in the heart of Downtown Brooklyn – a premiere artistic community and media hub. The Brooklyn Campus is next door to the prestigious Brooklyn Academy of Music, Steiner Studios (the largest sound stage east of LA) BRIC and the Red Hook Pier. This 60 credit terminal degree offers students hands-on experience with the latest technologies for content creation across multiple disciplines. The Program has five Areas of Concentration:

1) Audio/Music Production, Sound Design

2) Computer Graphics, Animation and Interactive Media

3) Film, Video and Screenwriting

4) Media Management

5) Photography

Using state-of-the-art studios and advanced techniques and toolsets, students learn to develop their full artistic vision for exhibition and screening.

A full complement of media theory classes supports the critical development of a solid aesthetic and conceptual foundation for creative production. Competitive internships and job placement services additionally help students get placed in the industry while developing professional portfolios and reels for the competitive job market.

The MFA Program is also registered as a STEM designated program (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math.)
Upon completion of this Program, students will be entering the job market with an advanced and final level of academic learning in the field of media, and with a significant artistic media production for their portfolios and reels. As a terminal degree, this MFA also qualifies graduates for university-level teaching positions.
