The astounding growth over the last quarter century in media technologies, and the new ways of thinking associated with them, constitute the basis for this advanced program of study. The Master of Arts in Media Arts is designed for students who wish to work in a multidisciplinary, digital media environment, while enhancing the traditional skills they have already achieved. This 36 credit program is notable for its integration of production and theory courses; and for the diversity and range of the media disciplines which the student may explore. This integrated approach to the study of media arts equips students with the skills and knowledge to develop and evolve in the face of rapidly shifting technologies. The MA is registered as a STEM designated program (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math.)

The Master of Arts is also designed to provide a unique education for media artists and communications professionals who need an advanced degree to enhance their career opportunities.

There are six areas of Concentration to choose from (see below.) In the first semester, students declare and file their intended Concentration with the MA Program Coordinator.

Students have access to extensive media facilities such as: multiplatform and networked computer labs with production grade workstations for CG and animation; a multi-cam TV studio; digital video labs and editing bays; digital audio and MIDI labs with a full recording studio; wet and digital photo labs; large format printers; cameras and assorted media peripherals, large theatrical screening spaces; 3 campus-based galleries for exhibitions; and smart classrooms.

The culmination of the program is an integrated thesis project that comprises both of a thesis paper and an exhibit-ready media production.
